Serbian basketball coach
Dusko Vujosevic is a Serbian basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the basketball club "Universitatea" in Cluj-Napoca. He began his professional coaching career in 1976 with the junior teams of "Partizan". Vujosevic made his debut as the head coach of "Partizan". Before coaching BC CSKA Moscow, he coached Spanish, Italian, and Serbian (Yugoslavian) basketball clubs, but only achieved success with the latter. Vujosevic gained a reputation in Serbia for nurturing young and unknown basketball players.
Coaching Career
On June 25, 2010, Dusko Vujosevic signed a contract with BC CSKA Moscow. Prior to the start of the Russian Basketball Championship, Vujosevic stated in an interview with the club's website that CSKA would use zone defense and overall, he was satisfied with the innovations in basketball rules. Dusko Vujosevic became the first coach of a European club to defeat an NBA team in the United States. BC CSKA Moscow lost to the "Miami Heat" (85:96) and "Oklahoma City Thunder" (87:97) during the tour, but defeated the "Cleveland Cavaliers" (90:87). According to Vujosevic, the tour in the United States will benefit CSKA.
On November 24, 2010, Dusko Vujosevic was dismissed as the head coach of BC CSKA Moscow after the team suffered 5 defeats out of 6 matches in the EuroLeague. This decision was not a surprise to basketball experts.
National Teams
In 1988, Dusko Vujosevic won the European Championship (under 18) with the Junior National Team of Yugoslavia. In 2003, he coached the national team of Serbia and Montenegro in the European Championship. Since 2007, Dusko Vujosevic has been the head coach of the national team of Montenegro. Under his guidance, the team qualified for the 2011 European Championship. However, he no longer holds the position since November 22, 2010, and was replaced by Dejan Radonjic.
