Biography of Krista Pärmäkoski
IntroductionKrista Pärmäkoski is a Finnish cross-country skier who has achieved significant success in her career. She won a silver medal in the relay event at the 2014 Olympic Games and has earned five medals at the World Championships.

Early Career
Pärmäkoski made her debut in the World Cup in a sprint race in her hometown of Kuusamo on November 29, 2008. Although she qualified for the race, she was eliminated in the first round. In her first long-distance race, a 10km event, she finished 31st. Despite not participating in all races in her first season, Pärmäkoski secured second place in the 10km classic race at the Finnish Championships, only losing to Aino-Kaisa Saarinen. She also won a silver medal in the pursuit race at the Junior World Championships in 2008.
Continued Success
In the following season, Pärmäkoski competed in the World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic, where she finished 37th in the 10km race. The 2009/10 season proved to be more successful for the Finnish skier as she won gold at the Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten, Germany, and qualified for the Finnish national team for the Olympics. In Canada, she participated in two races, finishing 52nd in the 10km skate race and 32nd in the marathon event.
Breakthrough Season
The 2010/11 season was a breakthrough for Pärmäkoski. After Virpi Kuitunen's retirement, she became an integral part of the Finnish relay team. She also achieved her first podium finish on the World Cup circuit, securing second place in the pursuit event in Oberhof, Germany. Pärmäkoski won gold in the 10km race at the Junior World Championships. At the 2011 World Championships, she participated in all events and won two medals – silver in the team sprint (with Aino-Kaisa Saarinen) and bronze in the classic relay, where she ran the final leg.
Recent Achievements
In 2017, at the World Championships held in Lahti, Finland, Pärmäkoski won the first silver medal for the Finnish team in the skiathlon event. She also became the Finnish champion in the 30km race in the same year.
Personal Life
Krista Pärmäkoski is married to Tommy Pärmäkoski, who previously worked as a personal physiotherapist for Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel. He has also played professional ice hockey in the United States and Finland.
