Early Life and Education

Kapustinskaya was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and began her musical journey at the Kyiv State Higher Music School named after R.M. Glier. She continued her studies at the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, graduating in 2006 under the tutelage of renowned professor Diana Petrinenko.

Debut and Early Career

Kapustinskaya's debut at the Mariinsky Theatre came in 2007 when she performed the role of Smeraldina in Prokofiev's opera "The Love for Three Oranges." Prior to this, she had already gained experience by performing in the theater-studio "Young Opera" at the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where she sang roles such as the old gypsy in "Aleko," Dunyasha in "The Tsar's Bride," and Maddalena in "Rigoletto."

Repertoire

Kapustinskaya's extensive repertoire includes a wide range of mezzo-soprano roles, including Lubasha and Dunyasha in "The Tsar's Bride," Maddalena in "Rigoletto," and Smeraldina in "The Love for Three Oranges." Her repertoire also encompasses arias from operas by Donizetti, Gluck, Handel, Massenet, Moniuszko, Mozart, Rossini, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, and Verdi. Premières and Collaborations

Kapustinskaya played a pivotal role in the Russian premiere of Rodion Shchedrin's opera "The Enchanted Wanderer," which was premiered at the Stars of the White Nights Festival in 2007. She also performed the role of Grusha at the Moscow Philharmonic's opera festival dedicated to Shchedrin's 75th anniversary and at the Edinburgh Festival the following year. Kapustinskaya was also the first to perform the role of Agrafena Alexandrovna in Alexander Smelkov's opera "The Brothers Karamazov," which premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2008.

Collaborations with world-renowned orchestras and conductors have further solidified Kapustinskaya's status as an esteemed mezzo-soprano. She performed in Prokofiev's cantata "Alexander Nevsky" with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Valery Gergiev during the opening of the 2007-2008 season. Kapustinskaya has also toured with the Mariinsky Theatre company to Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
