Early Career and European Stints

Beginning his professional career at the tender age of 17, Ghanaian striker Abedi Ayewmade his mark in the French club Metz for two seasons. In 1992/93, he joined Qatar's Al-Ahli before returning to Europe and spending two seasons with Lecce in Italy, experiencing both Serie A and Serie B.

Portuguese Proficiency

From 1995 onwards, Ayew played for several Portuguese clubs, including Uniao Leiria, Vitoria, Boavista, and Sporting. Notably, with Sporting, he claimed the league title in the 1999/00 season.

Turkish Triumph and Chinese Conquest

After his Portuguese sojourn, Ayew ventured to Turkey, representing Yimpas Yozgatspor and Kocaelispor. With Kocaelispor, he lifted the Turkish Cup. In 2002, he headed to China, donning the shirts of Changsha Jinde and Inter Shanghai. In 2004, he reigned as China's top scorer with Inter, netting 17 goals.

International Accolades

Ayew's achievements extended to the international stage. In 1992, he helped Ghana earn the bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics, scoring six goals and finishing just behind Poland's Juskowiak for the tournament's scoring title. He also participated in three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments (1994, 1996, 2000) and amassed 25 caps for his national team.
