Biography of Kyle MacLachlan
Kyle Merritt MacLachlan was born on February 22, 1959, in Yakima, Washington, USA. He was born into a family of a stockbroker and lawyer, Kent Alan MacLachlan, and a school district PR director, Catherine MacLachlan. Kyle has two younger brothers - Craig and Kent MacLachlan Jr.

Kyle's talent for acting and other forms of art was discovered by his mother. Under Catherine MacLachlan's guidance, he learned to play the piano from the age of 9 to 14. Around the same time, he began taking classical vocal lessons while also participating in school theater productions. He completed his high school education at Eisenhower High School and then enrolled at the University of Washington.

When he was 17, Kyle's parents divorced, coinciding with the end of his schooling and his enrollment in university. During his time at university, MacLachlan worked part-time performing in shadow theater. In 1982, he graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. That same year, MacLachlan participated in a festival dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare, held in Ashland, Oregon. He performed in classic plays such as "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet." This festival was where David Lynch, a relatively unknown filmmaker at the time, noticed MacLachlan and invited him to appear in his film "Dune" (1984), based on Frank Herbert's science fiction novel.

Kyle's debut role in "Dune" marked the beginning of a successful collaboration between the actor and director David Lynch. Two years later, MacLachlan starred in Lynch's detective thriller "Blue Velvet" (1986). During the filming of "Blue Velvet," Kyle's mother Catherine passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 53. On set, MacLachlan began a romantic relationship with his co-star Laura Dern, which lasted for five years.

After the success of "Blue Velvet," MacLachlan appeared in several other projects, including the sci-fi action film "The Hidden" (1987) and the TV movie "Dream Breakers" (1989). However, it was his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper in the television series "Twin Peaks" that brought him international recognition. The show became a cult phenomenon, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards. MacLachlan's portrayal of Agent Cooper gained him a large fan base both in the United States and abroad.
In the years following "Twin Peaks," MacLachlan's career experienced ups and downs. While he appeared in various films and TV shows, few achieved the same level of success as "Twin Peaks." Notable projects during this period include "Sex and the City" (2000-2002), "Desperate Housewives" (2006-2012), and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2014-2015). In 2017, MacLachlan returned to his iconic role as Agent Cooper in the revival of "Twin Peaks."
MacLachlan's personal life has also attracted attention. He had a high-profile relationship with supermodel Linda Evangelista from 1992 to 1998, which ended in a broken engagement. In 2002, he married fashion publicist Desiree Gruber, and they have a son named Callum Lyon MacLachlan, born in 2008. MacLachlan and Gruber currently reside in Manhattan.
Together with his long-time collaborator David Lynch, Kyle has stated that the latest season of "Twin Peaks" will be the final chapter. However, considering the unpredictability of the series, anything is possible.
