Early Life and Education
Latif Imanov was born in 1922 in Shusha, Azerbaijan. His academic journey began in 1944 with a graduation from Azerbaijan University.
Academic and Scientific Career
Upon graduation, Imanov joined the Institute of Physics at the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1950, he embarked on a dual role, teaching at the university while continuing his research at the institute. In 1954, he became the head of the Radiophysics and Spectroscopy department.
Throughout his career, Imanov made significant contributions to the field of radio spectroscopy. His research focused on the study of molecular energy and structural characteristics in condensed media.
Research Highlights
RadiospectroscopyImanov investigated the existence of a single molecule (n-propanol) in five non-equivalent rotational states. He also determined the presence of rotational isomers and the intervals of concentration at which mechanical reinforcement of glass systems occurs.
Dipole Moments in Aromatic Compounds
Imanov discovered dielectric criteria for the degree of local ordering in aromatic compounds. This laid the groundwork for understanding the intermolecular interactions and molecular motion.
Dynamic Structure of Acetic Acid and Amino Acids
Imanov developed a model for the dynamic structure of acetic acid and aqueous solutions of amino acids. This model provided insights into the molecular dynamics of these systems.
Legacy and Recognition
In 1976, Latif Imanov was elected as an academician of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1979, he was honored with the title of Merited Scientist of Azerbaijan SSR. A year later, in 1980, Imanov passed away, leaving behind a rich legacy of scientific achievements.
