Lazar Kitanovski: A Distinguished Military and Political Figure
Early Life and EducationLazar Kitanovski was born and raised in Skopje, Macedonia. He received his legal degree from the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in 1981, completing his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Sociology, Political and Legal Research in 1995. His doctoral dissertation, "Social Aspects of Political Processes in Macedonia and the Functioning of the Parliamentary Democracy Model," earned him a doctorate from the University's Faculty of Law.
Military Career
Following his academic pursuits, Kitanovski served as the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia from 1997 to 1998. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the country's defense policy and military operations.
Political Involvement
Throughout his career, Kitanovski remained politically active as a member of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia. He was elected to the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, where he served as a deputy from 1997 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004, he held the position of advisor on national security to both the Prime Minister and the President of Macedonia.
Intelligence Leadership
From 2004 to 2006, Kitanovski served as the Director of the Macedonian Intelligence Agency. Under his leadership, the agency underwent significant reform and modernization, enhancing national security capabilities.
Return to Parliament
