Early Life and Education

Leandra Krumberger was born into a family of Greek immigrants. Her father arrived in the United States in 1954, while her mother, whose parents had also immigrated from Greece, was born in the US. She graduated from Brookfield Central High School in Wisconsin in 1976. Krumberger went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Marquette University in 1980 and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983, specializing in pediatric psychology and primary care.

Nursing Career

Krumberger is a registered nurse and a practicing pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) with over 20 years of experience as a nurse and lecturer at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (1980-1981, 1990-1991), University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing (1981-1983), and Saint Mary's Medical Center (1991-2004).

Political Career

Wisconsin Assembly

Krumberger served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 2005 to 2011. As a member, she was the senior member of the Committee on Health and Health Reform and also served on the Committee on Public Health, Education Reform, Education, and Criminal Justice.

Wisconsin Senate

From 2011 to 2019, Krumberger was elected to the Wisconsin Senate. She is a vocal opponent of medical marijuana, citing a lack of medical evidence supporting its use.

Personal Life

Krumberger is married and has children. She resides in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and is an active parishioner at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
