Biography of Ledley King

Ledley King is an English footballer of Antiguan descent who played as a central defender. He spent his entire career at the English club Tottenham Hotspur, serving as the team's captain. King joined Tottenham in July 1997 and began his professional career at the club the following year. His debut came in May 1999 in a match against Liverpool at Anfield.

Record-Breaking Goal

King made history in the Premier League by scoring his first goal for Tottenham against Bradford just 10 seconds into the match, a record that remains unbeaten to this day. He also played a crucial role in the League Cup final, where Tottenham defeated Chelsea to win their first trophy in nine years. For Tottenham fans, King was not only a tenacious and tough central defender who fought for the ball even with injuries, but also a true loyalist to the club. He had been with Tottenham since 1997 and never even considered changing clubs. As King himself has said, he would play for Tottenham for his entire life.

International Career

Despite a knee injury, King played in the 2009/10 season. He also scored two goals in the domestic league, opening the scoring against Portsmouth and equalizing the score in a match against Manchester United. After the season, he was invited by Fabio Capello, the coach of the English national team, to play in a match against Mexico and subsequently participate in the World Cup. England won the match and King scored a header. He was also a winner of the League Cup in 2008.
