Childhood and Early Years
Born Lee Chang-sun in Seoul, South Korea, on February 7, 1988, Lee Jun's childhood was marked by a passion for acting. Inspired by countless Korean and American films, he immersed himself in the world of cinema, even attempting a fire-starting stunt inspired by "Home Alone." However, a skeptical teacher's doubts about his acting abilities led him to focus on dance.
Dance and Model Career
Lee Jun's impressive dance skills propelled him to victory in a dance competition, paving the way for his entry into Seoul Arts High School for choreography. He further honed his modern dance techniques at the Korea National University of Arts. His striking appearance made him a popular advertising choice, featuring in various campaigns from hairpieces to hangover beverages.
Music Breakthrough with MBLAQ
In 2009, Lee Jun joined the quintet MBLAQ, an acronym for "Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality." As the vocalist and main dancer of the group, he contributed to the release of three single albums, seven EPs, and one studio album. MBLAQ also participated in numerous South Korean television shows.
Film Debut and Stardom
Prior to his MBLAQ days, Lee Jun had minor roles in "That Man Returns" and the thriller "Ninja Assassin." He voiced the titular character of Gnomeo in the Korean adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet." In 2013, he made a breakthrough with the lead role in the action thriller "Rough Play," tackling controversial intimate scenes. His performances in "Pinocchio" and "Vampire Detective" solidified his status as a Korean heartthrob.
Personal Life
In 2011, Lee Jun was diagnosed with an inner ear infection after suffering from insomnia and bipolar disorder. Standing at 180 cm and weighing 63 kg, he maintains a private personal life. However, he was romantically linked to actress Jung So-min from 2017 to 2020. Currently, he is rumored to be dating university student Aibiike.
Military Service and Panic Attacks
Lee Jun's military service from December 2017 to December 2019 was completed as a reserve officer, due to panic attacks.
Recent Works and Netflix Success
In 2021, Lee Jun starred in the Netflix science fiction thriller miniseries "The Silent Sea." He also appeared in the first season of "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" and the historical drama "Red Heart."
