Early Life and Education
Born on August 3, 1998, in Seoul, South Korea, Lee Ji Han was destined for a future in the entertainment industry. After graduating from high school, he pursued a degree in Dramatic Arts at Dongguk University.
Rise to Fame through "Produce 101"
Lee Ji Han first gained recognition at the age of 19 when he participated in the second season of the music reality show "Produce 101" in 2017. Competing with 100 other trainees, he showcased his vocal abilities with covers of EXO's "Overdose" and Infinite's "Be Mine." Despite not making it to the final lineup for the boy group Wanna One, his appearance on the show brought him considerable attention.
Debut Projects
Following his exposure on "Produce 101," Lee Ji Han shifted his focus to acting. In 2019, he made his debut in the YouTube web series "Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day," a culinary drama about noodles. He also had a supporting role in another web series, "Dream of Butterfly."
Upcoming Projects and Tragic Passing
Shortly before his untimely death, Lee Ji Han joined the cast of the upcoming romantic drama "Season of Kkokdu." He was set to portray the ex-boyfriend of the female lead. Sadly, the production was put on hold after his passing, as there were still unfilmed scenes involving his character.
Personal Life
Lee Ji Han kept his personal life relatively private, but it is known that he was close friends with model Kim So Hee. Like many celebrities, he enjoyed photography and had done modeling work for Luwak White Coffe, an Indonesian coffee brand.
Halloween Tragedy
Lee Ji Han's promising career came to an abrupt end during the Halloween festivities in Seoul in 2022. A massive crowd on the crowded Itaewon street caused a stampede after someone fell, leading to the deaths of 156 people, including Lee Ji Han. His fellow Korean entertainer, 24-year-old cheerleader Yoona Kim, also perished in the tragedy.
Legacy and Remembrance
The Halloween tragedy sent shockwaves through South Korea and led to the cancellation of numerous events and a period of national mourning. Lee Ji Han's remains were cremated and interred at Seoul Memorial Park, the resting place of many Korean celebrities. His untimely passing left an enduring void in the entertainment industry and the hearts of his fans.
