Early Life and Career

Lee Stafford was born on October 17, 1966, in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. He discovered his passion for hairdressing at a young age, cutting the hair of his friends and family in his mother's living room. He realized his love for the art of hairstyling, transforming people and finding styles that accentuated their inner and outer qualities.

After living briefly on King's Road in Chelsea and spending some time in the United States, Stafford returned to Leigh-on-Sea, where he started to win over the hearts of the local population and refine his skills. In 1984, Stafford opened his first salon, called 'The House That Hair Built,' in Leigh-on-Sea. He later opened another salon, 'Geezers,' in Sheffield in 1992. Continuing his development and reaching new heights, Stafford worked with even more enthusiasm. His efforts led to the launch of his own hair care product line in 2001. In 2002, he received what he considers to be the most significant award of his life, being named 'Most Influential Hairdresser of the Year' by his industry colleagues. This inspired him to continue creating and exploring new directions.

Revealing the secrets of his "intimate" work with clients, Stafford stated, "When you get a haircut in a salon, most hairdressers only see you starting from the neck area, and in an unflattering black gown! This makes it impossible to properly assess the client. Hairstyles are created that do not harmonize with the client's body shape and size."

Stafford continued, saying, "So, first, you will stand in front of me. I will evaluate your entire body and how your hair 'interacts' with your height, body, and more. I will ask many questions! What is your lifestyle like? What are your priorities? What styles do you love? Do you prefer Julie Christie in the movie 'Shampoo' or Jean Seberg in 'Breathless'? Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' or Brigitte Bardot with a 'bed-head' hairstyle? By asking these types of questions, Stafford gains confidence in which direction to work with the client."

He further explained, "To create a 'couture' haircut, I measure your head, pay attention to bone structure, height, clothing preferences, and color choices. Only then do we discuss your hair. Just as a fashionable suit can make you look a few pounds lighter, a stylish haircut can highlight your cheekbones, enhance your eyes, define your jawline, perfect your skull shape, elongate your neck, and even conceal your shyness."

Television Appearances and Personal Life

In 2007, Lee Stafford appeared on the reality show 'Celebrity Scissorhands' on BBC, where he taught hairstyling to businesswoman and art gallery owner Tamara Beckwith and 1980s pop star Steve Strange. The proceeds from 'Celebrity Scissorhands' went to charitable causes. On November 6, 2011, Stafford participated in another reality show called 'Secret Millionaire' on Channel 4.
