Early Life and Education

Born in 1936 in Scotland, Paul Mitchell's mother was the town's first hairdresser, instilling a strong Scottish pride in him. After pursuing jewelry making, Mitchell began studying hairdressing at the Morris School of Hairdressing in London at the age of 16. By 18, he had already won several professional competitions.

London Success Story

Mitchell's talent and hard work led to a successful career in London salons. By 1960, he had become a renowned master hairdresser, prompting him to launch his own brand in the United States in 1966.

International Recognition and Business Innovation

Establishing salons under the "Paul Mitchell" name, Mitchell quickly gained international recognition. Despite his success, he recognized the need for industry improvement. After reflecting in Hawaii, Mitchell founded "John Paul Mitchell Systems" with John Paul DeJoria in 1979.

Launch of the "Paul Mitchell" Line

In 1980, Mitchell launched the "Paul Mitchell" line, featuring hair care products for salons. Aiming to enhance efficiency, the line utilized minimalistic black-and-white packaging and focused on premium quality.

Legacy and Success

Today, "Paul Mitchell" products are available in over 50 countries. Unfortunately, Mitchell passed away from pancreatic cancer in 1989. His son, Angus Mitchell, continues his father's legacy as the head of the company.

Family and Personal Life

Paul Mitchell married Jolina, a model of Filipino and Polish descent. Their son, Angus, was born in 1970 and inherited his father's passion for hairdressing.
