Biography of Trevor Sorbie
Trevor Sorbie, a British hairdresser, is known not only as a highly skilled stylist and hairdresser but also as a true artist of the hairdressing craft. He was born in 1949 in Paisley, Scotland, and grew up in a family of professional hairdressers. Both his grandfather and father worked as hairdressers, and from a young age, Trevor knew that he would follow in their footsteps. However, he aspired to be more than just a hairdressing master – he dreamed of becoming a globally renowned master.
At the age of 15, Trevor left school to pursue his passion. He received his initial knowledge and training in hairdressing from his family and spent some time working at his father's salon in Ilford. In 1969, at the age of 20, Trevor opened his own salon in Edmonton, North London. His career took off remarkably, and in 1972, he caught the attention of the leaders of the influential company 'Vidal Sassoon.' Soon after, Trevor became the creative director of the company, marking the beginning of his ascent in the industry. He later worked at 'Toni and Guy' and 'John Frieda,' solidifying his position in the British hairdressing scene. In 1979, Trevor opened his salon in Covent Garden.
Trevor Sorbie is not only a highly skilled stylist and hairdresser but also a true artist of the hairdressing craft. His shows captivate audiences as his incredible hairstyles, resembling works of art, effortlessly come to life seemingly by magic. He frequently works on photoshoots, styling models' hair, and is popular among celebrities of all ranks and ages. However, Trevor firmly believes that exclusively working with celebrities means standing still rather than progressing. His concept revolves around creating hairstyles for real people.
Today, Trevor Sorbie's company employs a team of highly skilled stylists and hairdressers, professionals trained by Trevor himself. Since the late 1980s, the company has also produced a professional haircare line, 'Trevor Sorbie,' which quickly gained popularity in numerous countries.
In 2004, another salon by Trevor Sorbie opened its doors. He has become one of the most influential hairdressers globally, with many referring to him as a "legendary hairdresser." Trevor has been awarded the title of Hairdresser of the Year in the UK three times and has also won international accolades, including being named the Best Foreign Stylist in Spain.
Apart from his professional achievements, Trevor actively participates in charitable projects. In terms of his personal life, it is known that he has been divorced twice and has a daughter.
Today, Trevor Sorbie is recognized as one of the top three most influential hairdressing masters in the world, alongside Vidal Sassoon and Alexandre de Paris.
