Dédé: The Brazilian Defender with a Family Legacy
Dédé is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a defender. He is known for his solid defensive abilities and his long spell with German club Borussia Dortmund.
Early Career and Family
Dédé was born in Volta Redonda, Brazil, on July 25, 1978. He comes from a footballing family, with his older brother Leandro also playing for Atlético Mineiro and Borussia Dortmund, and his younger brother Kaka playing for Portuguese club União Leiria.
Atlético Mineiro and the Copa CONMEBOL
Dédé began his career with Atlético Mineiro, where he became a regular and helped the club win the Copa CONMEBOL in 1997. He played for seven seasons with Atlético before making the move to Germany in 2004.
Borussia Dortmund Success
Dédé joined Borussia Dortmund in 2004 and quickly established himself as a key player. He helped the club win the Bundesliga titles in 2001/02 and 2010/11, as well as the DFB-Pokal in 2012. In total, he played 322 matches for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals.
International Career
Dédé has also represented Brazil at international level, making one appearance in 2004.
Later Career
In 2011, Dédé transferred to Turkish club Eskişehirspor on a free transfer. He spent two years with the club before returning to Brazil. He currently plays for São Paulo Futebol Clube.
