Biography of Leslie Wexner

Leslie Wexner was born on September 8, 1937, in Ohio, to immigrant parents. He received his education from The Ohio State University, majoring in management. Afterward, Wexner attended law school, but he had to drop out to help his parents manage their store.

In 1963, Wexner borrowed five thousand dollars from a relative and started his own business. He opened The Limited store in the Kingsdale Shopping Center in Upper Arlington. His venture was incredibly successful, and within a year, Wexner's parents joined him by closing their own store.

In 1969, Wexner launched Limited Brands, which has since grown into a major retail and marketing conglomerate. Currently, Limited Brands includes Victoria's Secret, Pink (Victoria's Secret), Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, C.O. Bigelow, The White Barn Candle Company, and La Senza. Wexner is now considered the wealthiest person in Ohio, with a personal fortune of approximately 2.7 billion dollars, according to Forbes.

Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, Wexner is also a renowned philanthropist. In 1984, he established the Wexner Foundation, which has provided significant support to various organizations and companies in the country. In 1989, Wexner and his mother were the first to donate one million dollars to the United Way. Their names are now inscribed on a marble plaque in the lobby of the United Way headquarters in Alexandria.

Wexner is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Congregation Agudas Achim and has previously served as the head of the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University, named in honor of his father. He continues to provide financial support to the center and presents rare and highly valuable works of art to the institution.
