Biography of Lesya Leskiv
Lesya Leskiv is a Ukrainian athlete and marksman specializing in rifle shooting. Born in 1963 in the city of Rohatyn, Leskiv is the daughter and protégé of Severin Leskiv. She graduated from Lviv Institute of Physical Culture in 1985 and went on to become a renowned sportswoman in Ukraine.
Career
Leskiv has achieved numerous accolades throughout her career. She has won multiple championships and has been a regular participant in national and international competitions. She represented the Soviet Union from 1980 to 1992 and has been a member of the Ukrainian national team since 1993.
Leskiv has proudly represented the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Lviv) since 1980. She has competed in various Olympic Games, including the 26th, 27th, and 28th editions, where she achieved notable results.
Additionally, Leskiv has earned bronze medals in team competitions at the European Championships in Brno (1993) and the World Championships in Milan (1994) and Buenos Aires (1998). She also secured a bronze medal in the Individual Cup competition in Shanghai, China, in 1999.
In 2002, Leskiv reached the second step on the podium in individual competitions and received a bronze medal in team competitions in Lahti. She continued to excel in her sport, winning first place in the individual competition in Osijek (2013) and achieving victory and a bronze medal in the team competitions in Granada (2014).
In Maribor (2015), Leskiv once again showcased her skills by winning bronze in individual competitions and securing the third position in the team competitions.
Honors and Awards
Lesya Leskiv has been recognized for her exceptional achievements in sports. She was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in 1994 and received the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class, in 2013.
