Biography of Lev Averbukh
Lev Averbukh was a Moldavian Soviet sculptor-monumentalist. He was born in Kishinev in 1913. Averbukh graduated from the I.E. Repin Art School in Kishinev in 1948, specializing in sculpture and portraiture.
Notable Works
Averbukh gained recognition for his sculptural compositions such as "Spring" (Primăvara, 1960), "Shepherd" (Chobanul, 1967), and "E. Syrbu, Daughter of the Forest" (E. Syrbu, fiica codrului, 1968). He also created the busts of N. Mleskhu-Spetaru and I. Kryange (both in bronze and granite, 1957), which were installed in the Alley of Classics in Kishinev. Averbukh also executed the "Bust of a Stakhanovite" (1948), the portrait of Sergey Lazo (1948), and others.
