Levon Meruzhanovich: A Distinguished Politician and Media Personality
Early Life and EducationLevon Meruzhanovich was born on January 20, 1980, in Sukhumi, Abkhazia. In 1997, he graduated from high school and enrolled in the Abkhazian State University's Faculty of Philology, specializing in journalism.
Media Career
Meruzhanovich began his media career in 1999 at the newspaper "Respublika Abkhazia." In 2001, he transitioned to Abkhaz Television. After graduating with honors in 2002, he served in the Armed Forces of Abkhazia as a lieutenant and head of the Ministry of Defense's press service. Upon returning in 2003, he resumed work at the Abkhazian State Television and Radio Corporation (AGTRK).
Political Journey
Meruzhanovich began his political career in 2004 when he was elected to the Sukhum City Assembly. He moved to Moscow in 2005 and worked in television. In 2007, he was invited to join the federal news agency "Regnum." He returned to Abkhazia in May 2009.
In March 2012, he was elected as a deputy to the Parliament of Abkhazia from the 20th Gumista district. Alongside his parliamentary duties, he continued his media work, hosting the weekly television program "Our Time."
Education and Professional Development
In 2013, Meruzhanovich enrolled in the Russian Academy of State Service and National Economy in Moscow. He graduated with honors in 2016 from the Faculty of State and Municipal Management. He was subsequently invited to join Abkhaz Television as the host of the program "Aizara."
Personal Life
Meruzhanovich is married and has three children. He is a member of the Union of Journalists of Abkhazia and the International Confederation of Journalists' Unions.
Awards and Recognition
Levon Meruzhanovich has been awarded the Certificate of Honor by the Parliament of Abkhazia for his significant contribution to the development of Abkhaz parliamentarianism.
