Petr Bondarev

Pyotr Pavlovich Bondarev was born on September 30, 1888, in Mariinsky Posad. In 1907, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1910, he graduated from the Kazan Industrial School and subsequently worked as a civil engineer for the Cheboksary District Zemstvo.
Revolutionary Involvement
Bondarev served in the First World War and participated in the February Revolution. In autumn 1917, he joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (Bolsheviks). His activism led to his election as Chairman of the Cheboksary District Executive Committee of the RKP(b) in March 1918.
Military Service and Death
In spring 1919, Bondarev was mobilized into the Red Army. He served as a military engineer in the 21st Rifle Division on the Western Front, fighting against the armies of Kolchak and Denikin. In August 1920, he was killed in combat during the offensive against Polish forces near Warsaw.
Legacy
In recognition of his sacrifice, a street in Cheboksary was named after Pyotr Pavlovich Bondarev. His life and contributions to the Bolshevik Revolution continue to be commemorated in the city.
