Lisa Niemi is a dancer, actress, screenwriter, director, producer, and the wife of Patrick Swayze. She was born on May 26, 1956 in Houston, Texas, USA. At the age of 15, she met Patrick Swayze and began studying ballet at his mother's dance school, owned by choreographer Patsy Swayze. They got married three years later.
Encouraging Patrick's Career in Film
When Patrick's career as a dancer came to a halt, Lisa advised him to try his luck in the film industry. Many years later, Lisa herself started acting in movies and in 2003, she sat in the director's chair for her own screenplay, directing the romantic drama "One Last Dance" in which she and Patrick played the lead roles. In September 2008, Lisa directed one of the episodes of "The Beast."
Personal Life and Challenges
Before she turned thirty, Lisa suffered a miscarriage. To distract themselves from the sadness of not having children, the couple bought a ranch in 1985 and Patrick started raising horses. They occasionally discussed the possibility of adopting a child, but ultimately decided to leave things as they were.
Now, as her husband battles cancer for the second year, Lisa is his main source of support. In May 2008, just a month before their 33rd wedding anniversary, Lisa and Patrick renewed their wedding vows for the second time. It was Patrick's idea.
