Biography of Lisa Vidal

Lisa Vidal, the captivating dark-haired actress of Puerto Rican descent, was born on June 13, 1956 in Whitestone, New York, USA. Her career started in repertory theater at the age of fourteen. After working in theater, Lisa joined the crew of the TV series 'Oye Willie' (1980-81), which served as a good start for her. In 1984, she made her debut in feature films, playing a small role in the comedy 'Delivery Boys'. Two years later, she portrayed a charming household maid to a kind elderly successor (Loretta Young) in the tear-jerking Christmas TV film 'Christmas Eve' (1986). In the late 1980s, Lisa appeared in several popular TV series such as 'The Cosby Show' and 'Miami Vice'. However, she wanted to play characters that could reflect the diversity of Latino Americans. Soon, she got the opportunity to do so by appearing in two educational films, 'Class Act: A Teacher's Story' (1987) and 'In the Shadow of Love: A Teen AIDS Story' (1991), both part of the 'ABC Afterschool Special' series. While television remained her main occupation, after starring in the remake of 'Night and the City' (1992) and an episodic role in the comedy 'I Like It Like That' (1994), Lisa realized that her career in mainstream cinema was declining. She then took on minor roles in independent films that did not increase her popularity. However, Lisa made every effort to do her job well. In 1994-95, she appeared in the TV series 'New York Undercover' as the sister of a New York detective, Myra DeLorenzo. Soon after, she played the feisty Jessica Helgado in Steven Spielberg's police drama 'High Incident' (1996). Although the series received positive reviews and gained a fan base, it was discontinued. Lisa went on to star in the film 'Fall' (1997) and the TV movie 'Hit and Run' (1999). Over the past decade, Lisa Vidal has appeared in numerous TV series and feature films. Some of the series she has acted in include 'Third Watch' (1999-05), 'The Division' (2001-04), 'CSI: Miami' (2002-09), 'Without a Trace' (2002-09), 'Boston Legal' (2004-08), 'Criminal Minds' (2005-09), and 'Southland' (2009). She has also appeared in several feature films, including 'Blue Diner' (2001), 'Chasing Papi' (2003), 'Dark Mirror' (2007), 'I Wanna Dance' (2007), 'Signal Lost' (2009), and 'Star Trek' (2009) among others.
