Liszl Waldmüller, a German-Austrian actress and singer, was born on May 25, 1904, in Knittelfeld, Austria. Hailing from a family of actors, her father owned a traveling theater company. Waldmüller received vocal and acting lessons from a young age.

Theatrical and Musical Career

In the 1920s, Waldmüller began performing in theater. She relocated to Germany and joined her husband, German actor Max Hansen, in singing operettas. Her stage career paved the way for her eventual transition to film.

Film Debut and Rise to Stardom

Waldmüller made her film debut in 1931. Initially, she played secondary roles in minor productions. However, her performance in Willi Forst's 1937 adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's "Bel Ami" brought her wider recognition. The song "Du hast Glück bei den Frau'n, Bel Ami," which she sang in the film, became a popular hit.

WWII and Career Success

During World War II, Waldmüller's career flourished. She landed leading roles in musical films and comedies, including "Mrs. Moon" (1941), "Love Comedy" (1942), and "Long Live Love" (1944).

Tragic Death

On April 8, 1945, Waldmüller's life was tragically cut short. She perished in a bombing raid on Vienna at the age of 40. Her promising cinematic journey came to an abrupt and heartbreaking end.
