A Fatal Illness
Fleur-Rose had been suffering from a high temperature but was initially thought to have a simple cold. After a few hours, she developed seizures and was rushed to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with meningitis. Despite aggressive treatment, Fleur-Rose's condition rapidly deteriorated, and she passed away on April 2016, just days after taking her first steps.
Lizzie's Mission
Determined to help others avoid a similar tragedy, Lizzie shared Fleur-Rose's story. She spoke out about the dangers of meningitis, emphasizing that it can strike children and infants unexpectedly. Lizzie urged parents to be aware of the symptoms and to seek medical attention immediately if they suspected their child may be ill.
A Difficult Pregnancy
Lizzie had a challenging pregnancy. Medical scans revealed a fluid buildup around the fetus's neck, raising concerns about her survival. Fleur-Rose was born prematurely by two and a half months, weighing only 1.8 kilograms. Her mother described her as a "beautiful, perfect little girl."

Fleur-Rose's illness progressed rapidly, despite her initial lack of obvious symptoms. Lizzie recalled that her daughter had been playing with toys shortly before her condition took a devastating turn. She emphasized that infants and young children may not be able to communicate their pain or discomfort, highlighting the importance of seeking medical help at the first sign of concern.

Meningitis is a bacterial infection that affects the lining of the brain and spinal cord. She hoped that by sharing her daughter's story, she could prevent other families from experiencing the unimaginable pain of losing a child to meningitis.
