Education and Academic Career
Ljubčo Jordanovski earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Zagreb in 1975. Subsequently, he pursued a doctorate at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he received his degree in 1985. From 1987 to 1992, he served as an associate professor at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. He was promoted to full professor in 1992 and remained in that position until 2003.
Political Involvement
- Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM)Jordanovski's political career commenced in 1991 when he became a member of the Presidency of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM). He held this role until 1995, after which he served as a member of the SDSM Central Committee from 1995 to 1999. During this period, he also joined the SDSM Presidency and International Committee.
- Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia
In 2002, Jordanovski was elected to the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia as a member of the SDSM. He chaired the Committee on Elections and Appointments within the Assembly.
Presidency of the Assembly
Following the tragic death of President Boris Trajkovski in an airplane crash on February 26, 2004, Jordanovski assumed the duties of Head of State until a new President was elected. He presided over the Assembly from November 2003 to August 2006.
Diplomatic Service
From July to December 2006, Jordanovski served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the United States.
Party of Free Democrats (PSO)
On October 21, 2007, Jordanovski founded the Party of Free Democrats (PSO) and became its Chairman.
