Early Life and Training

Lloyd Riggins was born in New York City in 1969. He began his ballet training at the Southern Ballet Theatre School in Orlando, Florida, under the guidance of his mother, Barbara Riggins, Henning Kronstam, and Kevin Haigen.

Career in Denmark

In 1987, Riggins joined the Royal Danish Ballet, where he rose through the ranks to become a principal dancer in 1989. During his tenure there, he performed leading roles in numerous ballets, including Cranko's "Onegin," Bournonville's "Napoli," and Neumeier's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

International Recognition and Hamburg Ballet

In 1995, Riggins moved to the Hamburg Ballet as a principal dancer. He has since performed a wide repertoire of roles, including the title role in "Hamlet," Sebastian in "Vivaldi, or Whatever You Will," and Petrushka in "Nijinsky." Riggins has also danced with the American Ballet Theatre in New York City and has performed as a guest artist in various theaters worldwide.

Repertoire in Hamburg Ballet

Lloyd Riggins' current repertoire at the Hamburg Ballet includes Romeo and Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet," Armand and Gaston in "La Dame aux Camélias," and the title role in "Odysseus." He also dances Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Cinderella" and "The Nutcracker," Neumeier's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and Mats Ek's "Swan Lake Visions."

Guest Appearances and Collaborations

As a guest dancer, Riggins has performed in theaters across the globe, including Tokyo, Moscow, Toronto, Copenhagen, Paris, and Munich. He has collaborated with renowned choreographer Donya Feuer in her documentary film "Making a Utopia."

Personal Life

Lloyd Riggins has been married to Hamburg Ballet dancer Niurka Moredo since 1991.
