Louise and Geraint Jones
The Story of Louise and Jerent Jones
Louise and Jerent Jones are a married couple who share a unique bond that goes beyond common hobbies or a love for the same type of music. Both Louise and Jerent suffer from serious memory problems as a result of severe head injuries. Louise was hit by a car, while Jerent was a victim of a street attack. These traumatic incidents left both of them with unreliable long-term memory and an inability to retain short-term information for more than a day.

It may seem impossible for two individuals with memory issues to coexist, let alone successfully raise a child together. However, the Joneses not only excel in parenting their firstborn but also gradually regain their lost memories, thanks in part to the efforts of their child.

For a long time, Louise and Jerent had to learn to live their lives anew. Jerent, for example, relied heavily on his mobile phone to remind him of simple, everyday tasks. On average, his phone contained about five tasks per hour or around 90 tasks per day. The to-do list included things that seemed impossible to forget at first glance. Unfortunately, after his head injury, Jerent lost the ability to retain any information in his memory, often relying solely on his phone to remember even the need to eat.
Louise, on the other hand, adopted a slightly different approach to control her mind. She transformed her life into a precise, carefully scheduled routine that rarely changed. In a way, her situation was even more challenging than Jerent's, as the car accident not only affected her memory but also impaired her coordination and ability to walk steadily.
Louise and Jerent crossed paths in 2008 when fate brought them together in a support group for people with brain injuries. Despite their memory problems, they developed a passionate romance. In June 2011, Louise and Jerent tied the knot. Shortly after, their first child, Cian, was born. The birth of their child had an unexpected effect on Jerent – his memory began to gradually restore itself.
However, it is too soon to say that Jerent has overcome all of his challenges. He still forgets to complete some household chores and heavily relies on his phone's to-do list. Nevertheless, Louise has noticed that Jerent never forgets about their child. He may forget to turn off the stove or lock the door when leaving the house, but he always remembers to warm up the milk or change Cian's diaper.
The birth of their child has also had a positive impact on Louise's memory. Cian seems to exist on a fairly stable schedule, albeit not a very convenient one. The little boy wakes his parents up at 1:30 in the morning, but as parents of young children quickly adapt to such night awakenings. The consistent daily routine has proven to be truly therapeutic for Louise. Like Jerent, she has started to retain more and more important information in her memory.
Both Jerent and Louise are confident that their son has only just begun to restore their memory. The couple strongly believes that interacting with their growing child will ultimately restore their previously lost mnemonic brain functions.
