Biography of Lucas Vazquez

Lucas Vazquez is a Spanish footballer and midfielder for Real Madrid. He began his career playing for modest clubs such as "Curtis" and "Ural" in the lower divisions of Spanish football. In 2007, he joined the Real Madrid youth system.

Real Madrid Castilla

Vazquez made his debut for Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team, in a match against "Sporting Hihon B" on August 21, 2011. He scored his first goal for the team against "La Roda" on February 25, 2012, in a game that ended in a 2-2 draw. In the 2012/13 season, Vazquez and the team, under the guidance of Alberto Toril, returned to Segunda B and he made his debut in La Liga.

Espanyol

In the summer of 2014, Vazquez moved to Espanyol on loan. He made his debut in a match against Sevilla in the second round, which Espanyol lost 1-2. He scored his first goal in a match against Real Sociedad, where his team won 2-0. At the end of the season, Espanyol intended to exercise the purchase option in his contract, but Real Madrid decided to recall him at the request of their head coach, Rafael Benitez.

Return to Real Madrid

After his loan spell at Espanyol, Vazquez made his debut for the first team of Real Madrid on July 24, 2012, in a friendly match during preseason against Real Oviedo, where he immediately scored his debut goal. During the 2014/15 preseason, he traveled with the team to the International Champions Cup in the United States and featured in matches against Roma and Inter Milan. Vazquez won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, coming on as a substitute in the final against Atletico Madrid and scoring in the penalty shootout.

International Career

In June 2016, Vazquez was called up for a friendly match against the Georgian national team and was also named in the squad for the 2016 UEFA European Championship. He played 62 minutes in the friendly match but only came on as a substitute in the round of 16 against Italy, where Spain was defeated.
