Luis Bolaños: The Ecuadorean Footballer

Luis Bolaños is an Ecuadorian football player who primarily plays as a winger for Fuerza Amarilla. He previously represented Ecuador's national team.

Rise to Prominence

Bolaños made a significant impact in the 2008 Copa Libertadores, playing for LDU Quito. He scored five goals, becoming the team's leading scorer. LDU Quito went on to win the international trophy for the first time in its history.

European Clubs Chase

Following LDU's triumph, Bolaños garnered interest from several top European clubs, including San Lorenzo de Almagro and Espanyol, who offered $2.5 million for the player. However, Bolaños ultimately opted to join Brazilian club Santos after the Club World Cup. Santos acquired him for 6 million Brazilian reals ($2.7 million).

Move to Internacional

Bolaños later moved to Internacional, the reigning South American Cup champions. He made a memorable debut, scoring a hat-trick against Coritiba. In 2009, Bolaños faced his former club LDU Quito in the Recopa tournament. LDU Quito emerged victorious, but Bolaños's performance was less impressive.

Loan to Barcelona

Following his lackluster performance in subsequent matches, Internacional decided to loan Bolaños to Ecuadorian club Barcelona for 2010.
