Lynn Abbey, born Marilyn Lorraine Abbey, was born on September 18, 1948, in Peekskill, New York. She was raised in a family of an insurance manager and a homemaker. Writing Career and Personal Life

In 1976, Abbey worked as a programmer for several insurance companies before joining a group documenting bankruptcy cases during the crisis in New York. She later moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. In January 1977, Abbey was involved in a car accident while on her way to the airport to pick up science fiction writer Gordon Rupert Dickson, who was supposed to be a guest at a science fiction convention. Feeling guilty, Dickson offered to help Abbey by reading and reviewing her work. This manuscript eventually became her first published book in the fantasy genre titled "Daughter of the Bright Moon." In 1979, her novel was published, along with her short story "The Face of Chaos" in the anthology "Thieves World," created by writer and editor Robert Lynn Asprin.

On August 28, 1981, Abbey married Robert Asprin, becoming not only his spouse but also his co-author. She also contributed to other book series worked on by multiple authors, including "Heroes in Hell" and "Merovingen Nights." Starting with the book "The Brazen Gambit," Abbey also wrote for the "Dark Sun" series by TSR, a publisher of tabletop role-playing games.

Later Career and Current Life

In addition to her work on various book series, Abbey wrote original works and texts for role-playing games for TSR. After her divorce from Asprin in 1993, Abbey moved to Oklahoma City. During this period, she continued to write novels, including original works and texts for role-playing games. In 2002, she returned to the "Thieves World" series with the novel "Sanctuary" and also became the editor of a new anthology.

Since 1997, Abbey has been living in Leesburg, Florida, closer to her parents. She continues to write and contribute to the literary world.
