Biography of Lindsay Snyder

Lindsay Lavelle Snyder, also known as Lindsay Ellingson, was born on May 5, 1982, in Glendora, California. She is the only child of Linda Lou and Harry Guy Snyder, and the only granddaughter of Harry and Esther Snyder. It was her paternal grandparents who founded In-N-Out, a regional fast food restaurant chain, in 1948. Lindsay's father's side of the family has Dutch ancestry.

At the age of twelve, Lindsay moved with her parents to Shingletown, California, where she lived on a ranch and attended the private Redding Christian School in Palo Cedro, California. Her parents divorced in January 1997 when Lindsay was fourteen. Thanks to her mother, Lindsay gained two half-sisters, Tracy and Teri. Tracy is married to Mark Taylor, the former president and current chief operating officer of In-N-Out. On January 1, 2010, Lindsay became the sixth president of In-N-Out, succeeding her brother-in-law Mark Taylor. She continues to hold the position, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, uncle, father, and grandmother.

However, Lindsay does not yet fully own the company, but only "directs" it. She will receive the remaining shares when she turns 35. Before assuming her presidential duties at In-N-Out, Lindsay composed a message that was shared with all employees, informing them of the transition and upcoming changes in the company. In 2009, Lindsay's grandmother Esther's signature was finally removed from checks, three years after her death, and replaced with Lindsay's signature.

In 2006, Lindsay became involved in a fierce legal battle with Rich Boyd, a former executive of In-N-Out. He was fired for alleged financial misconduct, but Boyd claimed that Lindsay and then-vice president Mark Taylor were attempting to push elderly Esther Snyder out of the company. Mark and Lindsay both denied the accusations, and the lawsuit was settled out of court in May 2006.

In February 2013, Lindsay was first included in Bloomberg's billionaire index when In-N-Out was valued at $1.1 billion. That same year, she ranked 93rd in Maxim's annual Hot 100 list. Lindsay funds a non-profit organization, Healing Hearts & Nations, which builds educational centers in Africa and India and trains community leaders to provide various types of assistance to the less fortunate. She is also actively involved in the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, which helps children who have been victims of abuse or neglect.

In late 1999, when Lindsay was seventeen, her father Guy died from an accidental drug overdose. Shortly after, in the summer of 2000, Lindsay married her high school sweetheart, Jeremiah Seuell. The marriage ended two years later. In 2004, she married Richard Martinez, a former In-N-Out employee. Lindsay gave birth to fraternal twins, a boy named Silas Diego and a girl named Ella Jade, in November 2006. In 2010, Lindsay filed for divorce and began dating Val Torres Jr., a contractor and racer. On July 15, 2011, she gave birth to Val's son, Valentina Guy. Her divorce from Martinez was finalized in 2011, and shortly after, Lindsay and Val had a small wedding ceremony. Their relationship ended with Lindsay filing for divorce in 2013. In May 2014, she got engaged to another former In-N-Out employee, Shawn Ellingson. They married on July 5, 2014, in Malibu, California.

On her thirtieth birthday, Lindsay took on the responsibility of managing her father's stake in In-N-Out. She gained control of 50% of In-N-Out Burger shares in 2012. Lindsay is known to be a private person and does not enjoy interacting with reporters, although she recently shared some details of her life with the Orange County Register newspaper. Like her father, Lindsay is a passionate racing enthusiast and a member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). She regularly competes in races. In August 2012, Lindsay purchased a mansion with seven bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms, spanning 16,537 square feet, in Bradbury, California. The property was previously owned by Adrian Beltre, the third baseman of the Texas Rangers baseball team, and the deal exceeded $17 million.

In January 2014, during an interview with Orange Coast magazine, Lindsay revealed that she had narrowly escaped two kidnapping attempts. As a result of these experiences, she consciously tries to keep details of her family's life private. The first alleged kidnapping attempt occurred when Lindsay was still in middle school in Shingletown. The second incident took place several years later in Baldwin Park, near a local In-N-Out distribution center.
