Early Life and Education

Lyudmila Ivanovna Nuykina was born on October 23, 1936, in Verkh-Uba, Kazakhstan. She completed her secondary education in 1956, graduating from the Ust-Kamenogorsk Medical College as a "feldsher-midwife."

Career in Intelligence

In 1964, Nuykina joined the state security organs and became part of the special reserve. She worked alongside her husband, Vitaly Alekseevich Nuykin, in over 18 countries worldwide until 1986. As illegal intelligence officers, they operated in countries with strict political regimes, facing considerable risks.

Their missions primarily focused on obtaining economic, military-political, and scientific-technical information, as well as identifying potential contacts within the target countries. Nuykina actively assisted her husband in the successful execution of many high-stakes operations.

Recognition and Retirement

For her exceptional service and courage, Nuykina was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Medal for Courage, and the Veteran of Labor medal. She also received numerous departmental and commemorative awards. She retired from military service in 2006.

Gordiyevsky's Betrayal

Following Oleg Gordiyevsky's betrayal, Nuykina and her husband were removed from the special reserve. However, they continued to serve with distinction at the intelligence headquarters.

Official Recognition

Nuykina's affiliation with the special reserve was officially disclosed in September 2017. She has since been recognized as a distinguished figure in the history of Russian intelligence.
