Born in Los Angeles on November 16, 1996, to a renowned Japanese actor and martial artist, Sonny Chiba, Makkenyu inherited a passion for the performing arts. His grandfather was a military pilot, instilling in him a sense of discipline. From a young age, Makkenyu displayed a diverse range of interests, including karate, water polo, wrestling, horseback riding, and gymnastics.
Musical Inclinations and Education
Makkenyu's artistic expression extended beyond martial arts. He showcased his musical talent by mastering the piano, flute, and saxophone, and even joined a marching band. Academically, he excelled in high school, pursuing a college-level curriculum.
Debut and Inspiration
Makkenyu's cinematic journey began as a child, appearing alongside his father in films. However, his true interest in acting was sparked by a Japanese film starring Haruma Miura. From that moment on, Makkenyu harbored a dream of working with his idol.

Breakthrough success came with the "Chihayafuru" film series, in which Makkenyu played the role of Arata Wataya, a passionate karuta enthusiast. This role earned him the Japanese Academy Award.
