Early Life and EducationMagsud Gurbanov was born on May 9, 1941, in the village of Karabaglyar, in the Nakhchivan ASSR of the Azerbaijan SSR. He graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University.
Academic Career
Doctorate and ProfessorshipIn 1984, Gurbanov defended his dissertation, earning a Doctor of Biological Sciences degree in Botany with a focus on the scientific evaluation of seed production and quality enhancement for introduced tree species. Subsequently, he was appointed Professor.
Election to the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan
In 2001, Gurbanov was elected as a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NANA).
Research and Contributions
Plant Introduction, Biology, and EcologyGurbanov's primary research interests lie in plant introduction, biology, and ecology. His studies aim to understand the processes involved in the successful introduction and establishment of non-native plant species.
Genetics and Seed Science
Gurbanov has conducted extensive research on the genetic and selective foundations of seed science. His work has contributed to the development of technologies for improving seed quality and production in introduced species.
Mathematical Modeling
Gurbanov has developed a mathematical model to determine the growth rate of plants, fruits, and seeds. This model has proven valuable in predicting the performance of introduced species in different environments.
Additional Research and Publications
Gurbanov has authored numerous scientific papers and books on his research findings. He holds a leading position as a Senior Researcher at the Central Botanical Garden of NANA.
