Early Life and Activism
Ibrahim Ghali was an active fighter for the independence of Western Sahara. He was a prominent member of the Polisario Front (POLISARIO), a political and military organization fighting for Western Saharan self-determination.
Secretary-General of POLISARIO and Acting Chairman of SADR
After the assassination of POLISARIO's first Secretary-General, El-Sayed Mustafa Ould Sayed, in 1976, Ghali briefly served as the organization's leader. In the same year, he became Acting Chairman of the Revolutionary Council of the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
