Estonian writer, critic, translator, and politician, was born in Estonia. She graduated from Tartu State University with a degree in Estonian philology in 1968 and journalism in 1986.

Political Career

Since 2007, she has served as a member of the Tallinn City Council and is the chairperson of the Social Democratic Party's faction in the council. She has been actively involved in politics for many years.

She emerged into the literary world in 1988 with historical novels. Her writings garnered international recognition, and she became known to Russian readers through publications in Tallinn-based magazines such as "Vyshgorod" and "Raduga."

Her novel "I Love a Russian" was published in numerous languages and released in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Finland, and Latvia. The novel was first published as a standalone book in Russian in Moscow and Tallinn in 2009.
