Early Life and Education
Dr. Asma Rahimzadawas born on April 25, 1958, in the village of Kiçik Mazra, Basarkechar, Armenia. She holds a medical degree from the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute and a law degree from Baku State University.
Medical Career
After graduating, Dr. Rahimzada worked as a physician at the Baku Children's Polyclinic from 1983 onwards. In 1992, she was appointed as its chief physician.
Political Career
Dr. Rahimzada began her political career in 1998 as the first secretary of the State Committee for Women's Issues. She became a member of the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
In 2000, she was elected as the deputy of the Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) from the Shamkir Rural Electoral District No. 99. She served as a member of the Committee on Social Policy and the Chair of the Counting Commission.
International Involvement
Dr. Rahimzada has actively participated in international parliamentary cooperation. She is a member of the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Groups Azerbaijan-South Africa and Azerbaijan-Serbia. She also participates in the working groups for Azerbaijan-Germany, Azerbaijan-Libya, Azerbaijan-Syria, and Azerbaijan-Turkey.
