Biography of Manvel Badayan
Manvel Genrikhovich Badayan (also known as Yevrostan Manvel or Uyut Manvel) was an Armenian politician and entrepreneur. He was born on June 29, 1957, in the village of Kamo Gavar, Armenian SSR.
Education and Early Career
In 1979, Badayan graduated from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy (EINE). He obtained a degree in economics and mathematics. From 1982 to 1984, he pursued further studies as a doctoral candidate at EINE.
During his early career, Badayan worked as a research associate at the Research Institute of Economics and Planning under the State Planning Committee of the Armenian SSR. He also served in the Soviet Army from 1980 to 1981. In 1981, he worked as an economist at the Yerevan Light Engineering Plant, and from 1984 to 1992, he served as a senior lecturer at the Yerevan Zooveterinary Institute.
Political and Entrepreneurial Career
From 1992 to 1995, Badayan held the position of department head and deputy director at the Institute of Management and Economic Reforms under the Government of Armenia. In 1995, he founded and became the director of the company "Yevrostan-Uyut," which he continues to lead.
From 1999 to 2003, Badayan served as the deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit, Budgetary, and Economic Affairs of the National Assembly (NA). He was a member of the "Unity" faction. On May 25, 2003, he became the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on External Relations and a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction.
