Early Life and Education

Ion Luka was born and raised in Moldova. He graduated from the Ion Creangă State Pedagogical Institute in Chișinău, majoring in education. He later pursued additional education at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Moldova, specializing in international relations. He holds a master's degree in international relations.

Military Service and Sports Achievements

From 1984 to 1986, Luka served in the Soviet Army's Odessa Military District Sports Club. During this time, he distinguished himself in wrestling competitions, earning the title of Second Prize Winner of the USSR Armed Forces in 1985.

Teaching Career and Political Beginnings

Following his military service, Luka became a teacher at the sports school in Comrat and later at School No. 1 in the village of Congaz. In 1999, he was elected as a deputy in the People's Assembly of Gagauzia.

Local Government Leadership

From 2002 to 2003, Luka served as the executive director of the company "Trans-Oil." In May 2003, he was elected as the mayor of Congaz. He was subsequently elected as the chairman of the Association of Mayors and Council Chairpersons of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (ATU Gagauzia) in October 2003.

National Representation

In November 2014, Luka was elected to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. He has been an active member of various government committees and delegations.
