Marc Maron: American Stand-Up Comedian, Podcaster, and Actor

Early Career and Television Success

American stand-up comedian, podcaster, and actor Marc Maron has established a prominent career in the entertainment industry. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, he became a frequent guest on "Late Night with David Letterman," appearing over 40 times—more than any other comedian. He also made numerous appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

From 1993 to 1994, Maron hosted Comedy Central's "Short Attention Span Theater," taking over from Jon Stewart. He was a regular panelist on the show "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" and hosted the short-lived VH1 series "Punk'd" in 2002.

Radio and Podcasting

From 2004 to 2009, Maron hosted a show on liberal radio station Air America, co-hosting "Morning Sedition" and "Breakroom Live." Following the cancellation of "Breakroom Live" in September 2009, Maron launched his twice-weekly podcast, "WTF with Marc Maron," which has become highly acclaimed.

Notable episodes include the 2010 interview with Louis C.K.—which Slate magazine named the best podcast episode of all time—the 2012 interview with comedian Todd Glass, in which Glass came out as gay, and the 2015 interview with President Barack Obama.

Television and Film

From 2013 to 2016, Maron starred in his self-titled television series "Maron" on IFC, also serving as executive producer and writer. He appeared in the Netflix comedy series "GLOW" from 2017 to 2020. Maron had cameo roles in the films "Joker" (2019) and "For the Love of Leslie" (2023).
