Marco Villaseca is a Chilean footballer who played as a midfielder.Club Career
Villaseca began his career with Audax Italiano. A year later, he moved to Colo-Colo, where he spent five years, winning two Chilean championships and reaching the Copa Libertadores semifinals. In February 1999, he was involved in a brawl between Colo-Colo and Universidad de Chile players, resulting in criminal charges.
After his contract expired on December 31, 2001, Villaseca left Colo-Colo due to unpaid wages and a bonus. He even filed a lawsuit over the money. Universidad Católica approached Villaseca but could not afford the $450,000 required to buy out his 25% rights from Argentinian club Estudiantes.
In February 2002, Villaseca joined Spartak Moscow for $1.5 million. He was expected to replace Viktor Bulatov, but he left before the season started. Villaseca cited his wife's unwillingness to move to Russia as the reason for his departure. Other reports hinted at dissatisfaction with the club's treatment of foreign players.
After leaving Spartak, Villaseca briefly tried to join Chiapas before signing with Unión Española. He later returned to Colo-Colo.
In 2004, Villaseca returned to Russia with Rostov, who paid €300,000 for his transfer. He scored one goal in six league appearances before losing his place in the team and playing for Rostov's reserve team.
In 2005, Villaseca returned to Chile and joined Concepción. He later played for Santiago Morning and again for Concepción. Since June 2008, he has been playing for Rangers de Talca, where he serves as captain.
International Career
Villaseca made 24 appearances for the Chile national team, scoring two goals. He also captained the team on several occasions. He played in the 2001 Copa América and the 2002 World Cup qualifiers but stopped being called up due to frequent changes in the national team's coaching staff.
