Early Life and Career Breakthroughs
Margarita Tyshkevich was born on February 13, 1992, in Khoiniki, Belarus. After excelling in judo as a child, she transitioned to kayaking at the age of 12 due to the sport's high injury risk. Under the tutelage of Boris Merz and later Gennady Galitsky, she honed her skills in Mozyr.
In 2011, Tyshkevich made her international debut at the World Cup and World Championships, finishing 22nd in the C200 event. Her impressive performance at the Poznan qualifying event earned her a berth at the 2012 London Olympics.
Olympic Debut and International Success
In London, Tyshkevich competed in the K1 200m and K1 500m events, reaching the semi-finals in both. She finished 22nd in the 200m and 24th in the 500m, with a disqualification for crossing the four-meter line in the latter race.
After the Olympics, Tyshkevich became a mainstay of the Belarusian national team. In 2013, she claimed bronze in the K4 500m at the World Championships in Duisburg and at the European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho. She also triumphed at the Summer Universiade in Kazan, winning two gold medals and one silver.
Continued Dominance and World Championship Glory
Tyshkevich's impressive streak continued in 2014, when she secured two gold medals in the K2 200m and K2 500m events at the World Cup stages in Racice, Czech Republic. She has since established herself as one of the world's leading kayakers.
Personal Life and Education
Currently residing and training in Mozyr, Tyshkevich holds a higher education degree in physical education from Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I. P. Shamyakin, which she obtained in 2013.
