Biography of Academician Maria Feodorovna Trapeznikova
Early Life and EducationMaria Feodorovna Trapeznikova was born on February 20, 1929, in the city of Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), Russia. Amidst the hardships of World War II, she completed her secondary education in 1946 and entered the Gorky State Medical Institute named after S.M. Kirov.
Medical Career
After graduating in 1952, Trapeznikova worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist before specializing in urology at the Moscow Regional Research Institute of Clinical Oncology named after M.F. Vladimirsky (MONIKI) in 1954.
Research and Innovations
Under the mentorship of renowned urologist Professor A.Y. Abramyan, Trapeznikova's scientific research focused on various aspects of urology. In 1958, she defended her doctoral dissertation on "Testicular Tumors: Clinic, Diagnosis, and Treatment" and in 1969, on "Kidney Tumors: Clinic, Diagnosis, and Treatment."
Leadership and Contributions
Since 1975, Trapeznikova has led the urological clinic at MONIKI. Her expertise and dedication earned her the title of Chief Urologist of the Moscow Region. With a passion for innovation, she introduced groundbreaking technologies such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and endoscopic surgeries, revolutionizing the treatment of urological diseases.
