Marius Aliuță: From Romania to the World
Early Career in RomaniaMarius Aliuță began his football journey in his native Romania, playing for several clubs, including Steaua Mizil, Targoviste, Gloria Bistrița, and Farul. In 1998, he made the move to Moldovan side Sheriff, where he lifted the Moldovan Cup in 1999.
Breakout with Shakhtar Donetsk
In March 2000, Aliuță became the first foreign player in the history of Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk. He made his debut on April 2, 2000, against Metallurg Donetsk. Over the next two seasons, he made 47 appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League, scoring one goal.
Return to Romania: Steaua and Rapid
Due to family reasons, Aliuță returned to Romania in 2002 to join Steaua Bucharest. He later played for Rapid Bucharest before venturing abroad again.
International Career
Aliuță represented Romania at the youth level, making 13 appearances for the U-21 team. He earned his senior debut for the national side on February 26, 2001, in a 1-0 victory over Ukraine. Despite a few subsequent appearances, his international career was limited.
Globetrotting Odyssey
After leaving Romania, Aliuță embarked on a global football tour. He played for clubs in China (Changchun Yatai), Greece (Iraklis), and South Korea (Jeonnam Dragons).
Second Stint in Ukraine: Metallurg Donetsk
In July 2005, Aliuță returned to Shakhtar Donetsk's rivals, Metallurg Donetsk, on a three-year contract. However, he left again in 2006 for a brief spell in China.
Final Years: Romania, Azerbaijan, and Retirement
Aliuță played his final years in his native country with Timisoara and Vaslui. In 2009, he made a move to Azerbaijan with Neftchi Baku, his 15th club. He retired from football in 2011.
Personal Life
Marius Aliuță is married and has a daughter and a son, who was born in Ukraine.
