Early Life and EducationBorn on September 5, 1971, in Chișinău, Mariana Durleșteanu pursued her education at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (1990-1995), specializing in Accounting and Management Informatics. She later obtained an MBA from the International Center for Development and Management in Bled, Slovenia (2000).
Durleșteanu continued her studies, completing a postgraduate degree in Economic and Public Sector Reforms from the University of Westminster in London (2007-2008). She also attended specialized courses organized by the World Bank, IMF, and Merrill Lynch.
Professional Career
Ministry of Finance (1995-2001)Mariana Durleșteanu's career began at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, where she worked from 1995 to 1999. She then served as Director of the World Bank's Private Sector Development Project Implementation Unit (1999-2001).
Deputy and First Deputy Minister of Finance (2001-2004)
In July 2001, Durleșteanu was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance. The following year, she became First Deputy Minister of Finance. In this role, she led negotiations with international financial institutions and participated in developing fiscal and budgetary policies, poverty reduction strategies, and economic growth plans.
Ambassador to the United Kingdom (2004-2008)
On November 17, 2004, Mariana Durleșteanu was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United Kingdom.
Minister of Finance (2008-2009)
On March 31, 2008, Durleșteanu was appointed Minister of Finance in the government of Zinaida Greceanîi. Prime Minister Greceanîi praised her "high professionalism and achievements in the financial and fiscal sphere" as reasons for her selection.

On May 18, 2021, Durleșteanu announced her intention to run in the early parliamentary elections with the Law and Justice Party. On June 1, 2021, the party submitted its candidate list, led by Mariana Durleșteanu.
