Biography of Mariano Gonzalez

Mariano Gonzalez is an Argentine footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for the club "Huracan".

Early Career

Gonzalez began his career at the amateur club "Bambinos" before moving on to "Independiente" and then "Racing" in Avelyaneda. It was at Racing where Gonzalez made his breakthrough, joining the first team in 2001. During his time at Racing, Gonzalez played 64 matches and scored 14 goals, including one against "Boca Juniors" that secured a 4-3 victory for his team.

Move to Palermo

In July 2004, Gonzalez made a move to the Italian club "Palermo", with the transfer fee amounting to 3.5 million euros. He spent two seasons with Palermo, playing in 51 matches and scoring 4 goals.

Loan to Inter Milan

In the summer of 2006, Gonzalez was loaned to Inter Milan. He made his debut for Inter on September 12, 2006, in a Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Inter. On November 29 of the same year, Gonzalez scored his first goal for the club against Messina in the Italian Cup. Despite his overall successful performance at Inter, Gonzalez struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup, as it was occupied by Dejan Stankovic and Luis Figo. He played a total of 24 matches for Inter, scoring 1 goal. At the end of the season, Inter decided not to extend Gonzalez's loan.

Return to Palermo and Move to Porto

After his loan spell at Inter, Gonzalez returned to Palermo. However, on July 17, 2007, he was loaned to the Portuguese club "Porto", who had the option to buy the player's contract. In his first season at Porto, Gonzalez played 21 matches and scored 2 goals, helping the team become champions of Portugal. After the sale of Ricardo Quaresma, Porto exercised their option to buy Gonzalez, paying a fee of 3 million euros. In the following season, Gonzalez played a more prominent role in the club and made a notable contribution in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Manchester United. However, he suffered an injury at the beginning of the next season, which kept him out of training for 6 weeks. On February 2, 2010, Gonzalez scored a goal that secured a victory for Porto against their league rivals, Sporting.

International Career

Gonzalez made his debut for the Argentine national team on January 31, 2003, in a match against the Honduran club "San Pedro Sula", where he scored a goal in the 66th minute. In 2004, he was part of the Argentine squad for the Copa America and the Olympic Games, where they won the silver and gold medals respectively.
