Marina Litvinchuk (née Poltoran) is a renowned Belarusian kayaker who has been competing for the Belarusian national team since 2006.
Early Life and Career
Born on March 12, 1988, in the village of Sotnichi, Belarus, Marina Poltoran began her athletic career in academic rowing at a young age. She later transitioned to kayaking and became a member of the national team in 2006.
Olympic and World Championships Success
Litvinchuk achieved significant success in 2010, claiming silver at the World Championships in Poznań and bronze at the European Championships in Trasona. In 2011, she won two bronze medals at the World Championships and three medals, including two golds, at the European Championships. At the 2012 London Olympics, she earned a bronze medal in the four-person 500-meter event and competed in the two-person 500-meter race.
Post-Olympic Career and Personal Life
After the Olympics, Litvinchuk continued to compete on the international stage, winning four gold medals at the 2013 Summer Universiade. She is married to Belarusian rower Artur Litvinchuk, an Olympic champion in the four-person 1000-meter event. Litvinchuk graduated from the Mozyr State Pedagogical University in 2013.
Political Views
In 2020, Litvinchuk signed an open letter supporting the Belarusian government after protests erupted in response to disputed election results.
