Early Life and Career in Modeling

Marina Vacht was born in Paris on April 9, 1991, to a modest background. Raised in a small apartment by her father, she had no aspirations to become a model or actress. However, her life took a turn when a modeling scout noticed her in an H&M store at age 15.

Despite her newfound career, Vacht maintained a low profile, even hiding it from her friends. Nevertheless, she became a sought-after model, appearing in advertisements and on magazine covers, including as the muse for Yves Saint Laurent.

Breakthrough in Film

In 2011, Vacht's modeling career led her to French director Cédric Klapisch, who cast her in a supporting role in his film "Ma part du gâteau." While the film received mixed reviews, it marked Vacht's debut in the film industry.

Her breakthrough came in 2013 when she met renowned French director François Ozon at a restaurant. Impressed by her, Ozon offered her the lead role in his film "Jeune et jolie" ("Young and Beautiful"). Vacht's portrayal of a 17-year-old girl exploring her sexuality and relationships earned her critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival.

Accolades and Further Film Roles

Vacht's performance in "Jeune et jolie" garnered her numerous awards, including the César Award, the Lumière Award, and the Romy Schneider Award. She continued to work with Ozon, taking on roles in "Les familles modèles" and "Five." Vacht also appeared in "La Confession" and "Django."

Personal Life

Vacht is known for her introverted nature and rarely grants interviews. She is married to French photographer Paul Schmidt, with whom she has a son named Henri. She enjoys spending time with her family, prioritizing her son's well-being. Vacht prefers to keep her social media presence minimal, with her husband occasionally sharing photos of her and their son on his Facebook page.

Continued Success in Modeling and Film

Despite her success in film, Vacht remains grounded in modeling. She has worked with Karl Lagerfeld and is set to appear in a Chanel advertising campaign in 2018. Vacht also expresses a desire to collaborate with international filmmakers and act in other languages.
