Mark Grimmette: A Legendary American Luger

Mark Grimmette is an American luger who represented the United States from 1990 to 2010. Throughout his illustrious career, he amassed an impressive collection of nine World Championship medals, including:

2 silver medals in mixed team events (2004, 2005)

7 bronze medals in doubles (1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009) and mixed team events (2001)

Dominance in the World Cup

Grimmette's dominance was not limited to the World Championships. He claimed three overall World Cup titles, earning top honors in the 1997-1998, 1998-1999, and 2002-2003 seasons.

Retirement and New Beginnings

After the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Grimmette bid farewell to his professional sled career. On March 17, 2010, he officially announced his retirement. Shortly after, on April 29, he was named the Head of the U.S. Luge Program and Head Coach of the National Team, a role he has held since.

Life Beyond Sledding

Today, Grimmette resides and works in Lake Placid, New York. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, swimming, and indulging in his passion for the "Star Wars" franchise.
