Early Life:

Marky, whose friends and family called him Boknoi, was raised by his mother Mildred Kadaveng and sister Marcel Andrea, also known as Bonsai. In 2001, he moved with his mother and sister to Bauko, a province located in the Central Cordilleras Mountains, where he lived with other Igorot relatives. Despite growing up surrounded by Catholics, Marky took pride in his heritage and was fluent in the local language, as well as English, Ilocano, Tagalog, Bontoc, and Cebuano.

Personal Life:

According to the Philippine celebrity program 'Magpakailanman,' Marky's parents divorced when he was young, and his mother took on the responsibility of raising him and his sister. Despite this, Marky found the strength to reconnect with his father, Bobby Cielo, and expressed genuine love for him. After completing high school, Marky went on to study architecture at the University of Saint Louis in Baguio City, Luzon, where he became a member of a dance troupe.

Rise to Fame:

When close friends and classmates urged Marky to participate in the Filipino talent show 'StarStruck,' which started in 2003, he agreed and adopted his father's surname as his stage name. This decision changed his life entirely. Marky quickly became a favorite of the competition due to his expressive dance numbers. He was also the first Igorot representative to ever participate in such contests. In addition to fame, Marky won a prize of 10 million pesos, which included a substantial cash sum, an exclusive contract with the 'GMA' agency, and a house.

Career Highlights:

After winning the competition, Marky, who was immensely popular among the younger audience, landed the lead role in the fantasy series 'Fantastikids' and played Daniel Trinidad. Following 'Fantastikids,' Marky made guest appearances in several top-rated series and the following year played the lead role in the youth sitcom 'Boys Nxt Door,' which became the first Filipino series to be aired in South Korea.

Final Days:

Marky decided to try his hand at voicing animated characters and lent his voice to the drawn character Ichigo Kurosaki in the anime 'Bleach,' a fifteen-year-old student with the supernatural ability to see ghosts. Marky had many plans for the following year, including participation in the TV shows 'De Laila' and 'Ultraelectromagnetic Love,' an independent film called 'Bente,' and a leading role in a theatrical production. However, his plans were shattered when he was found dead in his home on December 7, 2008. His mother, Mildred, discovered him lifeless the morning after he had returned home from playing video games in an internet cafe. The cause of his death remains unknown, and since he neither consumed drugs nor alcohol, his tragic demise quickly became the subject of rumors and speculations.
